I hope people still like reading...
…at the very least, I know people like looking at pictures BUT will that go away too? The desire to look at things just to look. Okay, before I get all sad, I’m hopeful that I’ll hear some good stuff tonight since I’m going to a lecture about the ‘State of the Magazine’ at SF Camerawork. It should be a great lecture but I’m curious what folks in the...
Mamachas del Ring and American Grindhouse
I went to the Oakland Underground Film Festival over the weekend and saw Mamachas del Ring (great eye opening documentary on Bolivian female wrestlers) and American Grindhouse.
Under the stars, cool breeze touching my skin, with trains passing by in the night carrying no passengers and sitting on a Church bench outside of the Linden Street Brewery to view these films was a pretty surreal film...

Support Oakland Artists! →
Although I’m a San Francisco Native, I LOVE Oakland immensely and believe the Support Oakland Artists organization has set up a great web site to survey the community and create services and increase resources to the art community. I’m also hoping this bridges San Francisco and Oakland (West/East Bays) and we see even more colloborative work.

Good morning, World
Why is it when people wake up with a positive attitude and outlook, there’s always someone in a completely opposite mood? Such is life, eh?
Funny incident for anyone interested. I was taking a walk along the public shore at work, eating delicious frozen yogurt and just marveling at how lucky I am. I even said to myself, “I’m so lucky.”
At the very end of that thought, I mean, right on the cusp...

Thiefheart by Wanda Coleman
were i the queen of sleight of hand
i’d steal the wind from a thunderstorm
if i could
i’d steal the sweetness out of fresh-baked bread
it smells so good
i’d steal the stink from the core of night
i’d steal the thrill in a thief’s delight
know i would
steal the wings off the flitting dove
the memory
of a brother’s love

Time just seems to go by faster and faster and...
Faster. Since I’ve been thinking about stars lately. Isn’t it amazing when you look up at the sky, you’re looking at the same stuff you’re made from. No, I’m not on anything…but just love thinking that we’re all made up of the same things. It’s just that the matter is organized differently. But, sadly, humans forget this all the time.

I'm wondering...
Do people wish on stars anymore? I mean, I know there’s a song about wishing on planes in the night sky but…well, every time I want to wish on a star, it’s cloudy. I make a wish anyway…

Heartbreaking →
I found out a friend lost her home in a fire last night. She lost everything. Fortunately, her husband, daughters and grandsons are fine. Yet, all that loss. Everything her and her husband have worked so hard for all these years…just gone in a matter of hours. She’s got a heart of gold and has already been through so much. Just makes you think…

What are dreams, exactly?
They seem like really unusual projections of the self and the things happening in my life. My girlfriend says I should write a dream book. They have always fascinated me. This is true. I’ve heard, the people in your dreams are often a reflection of you. I’m wondering how true that is. One of the things I’m doing tonight, re-reading The Circular Ruins. I’ll probably continue...
